BLACK INK
BLACK INK
Daphna dor and Shahar dor
a duet with my mother., Ink Master Daphna Dor.
The transition from the studio to the gallery is akin to emerging from a shadowy, cool enclave into an open realm where the sun and wind play freely with your senses. It's a journey from a small, intimate space where you create under your own mysterious conditions, to a vast arena shared by all. There is a unique vitality in this movement, a kind of magic almost exclusive to it. To navigate this passage alongside your mother is to live a story brimming with life's essence.

This exhibition embodies both artistic and personal layers, capturing the essence of the present time and the unique relationship between a mother and her son, a bond that defies a clear starting point. In my working technique, I design a simple and basic environment and rules that shape and manage my behavior within them. My creation is the result of my conduct and that of my partners within this environment.
This time, I crafted a space where there is (almost) no place without tension and no place without release. Something fundamental in this work style is rooted in the passion for surrender, the curiosity to learn through movement, and the readiness to embrace conflicts without resolving them.
As always, I start with action and later learn the contexts.
The choice to create a shared environment for my mother and me, with the only rule being adherence to the artistic style it is based on (ink behavior), led me to edges and corners I hadn't visited in years, and perhaps never until now. I found myself required to move between experiences of concentration and release so intensely that the only thing I could truly rely on during this wild journey was the clear knowledge that I love my mother's work, that I love the place it comes from and what it signifies. I deeply cherish that we can share the style of action I propose, with all it demands and allows, existing beyond the bounds of the obvious.
